What's it like in 4-H?

In 4-H, you get to decide what topics and projects interest you most. You make 4-H what you want it to be. Work on many projects or focus on one or two. Choose what events sound fun to you, and do them. In 4-H, you have an important role in making your community a better place to live, but you don’t have to do it alone. As a club, you’ll figure out what’s needed most in your neighborhood and find ways to help.

In 4-H, you’re part of a family working together. At club meetings, you’ll learn how to get along with others as you build your skills and help your community. In 4-H, you’ll meet adults who care about you and want to help you succeed. 4-H matches you with mentors who will coach you in areas like problem solving, communicating, and teamwork. 4-H introduces you to potential careers and then gives you the training to get the career you want.

Information for the 2020 "Virtual" General Projects Day Show

Event Entry Submission Deadline
General Projects Day Upload Deadline:  July 8

Project Requirements:

  1. Please continue to use the Boone County 4-H Show Book for exhibit requirements.
  2. Read the Virtual Show Upload Requirements so that you know what specific photos and documents are needed for your project.
  3. Complete a Project Report for each of your project exhibits.  The Project Report should be saved as a Word document or PDF.

Directions on how to submit your project - This is VERY similar to how you would make your entry in past years in FairEntry, except at the end you upload your project instead of bringing it to the show.   • Computer Science, Robotics, Video/Filmmaking, & Maker Projects are the only non-livestock projects needing to upload a video.

Event Entry Submission Deadline

Beef, Dairy, Goats, Poultry,

Rabbits, Sheep, & Swine

Upload Deadline:  August 9

Project Requirements:

  1. Photos and Videos must be taken from July 30 through August 9.  Fair Entry will open starting July 30.
  2. Please refer to the Updated Class Listing for animal projects.
  3. Read the 2020 Livestock Entry Guidelines so that you know what specific photos and videos are needed for your project.
  4. Must have completed the required training to be eligible to exhibit in the Virtual Show. (YQCA for beef, dairy, goats, sheep & swine) (QAEC for poultry & rabbits)

  3. Read the 2020 Boone County 4-H Horse Show Exhibitor Guide so that you know what specific videos are needed for your classes.
  4. Must have completed the required QAEC training to be eligible to exhibit in the Virtual Show.

4-H makes learning fun! With a wide variety of projects available, 4-H members can focus on the areas that most interest them. Local fairs and shows allow 4-H members to show their project mastery while they engage with other 4-H members and families at the county fair.

Award Applications and Instructions

Award applications are not required, but rather a way for 4-H youth to be recognized for the work they have done throughout the 4-H year. We encourage ALL 4-H’ers to apply for awards. Many of the project areas have special awards which may include trophies, plaques, cash prizes, or other award of donor’s choice.
