University of Illinois Extension and Christian County Health Department are partnering up for a day of learning! We will review policies and procedures the state and local health departments put in place and how to avoid health code violations. This workshop is open to all food establishments or establishments seeking information about opening a restaurant and those wanting to learn more about selling food from your home. High-risk establishments that attend this interactive workshop can waive their last inspection of the year if they are in good standing from previous inspections.

In this workshop, Dr. Chad Anderson, Director of the Christian County Health Department, will review the most seen violations by the health department and how to avoid them. Fire Chief Matthew Adermann and State Plumber Ray Hall will discuss things they inspect and look for in restaurants.

Are you looking to start a home food business with your amazing cooking skills and need help with how to do it legally? The afternoon session of this workshop will guide you through operating within the new cottage food regulations. Lisa Peterson, Extension nutrition and wellness educator, will discuss the new Cottage Food Law. Outshine the rest and learn to grow your home-based business.

  • Morning session is from 9 a.m. to noon
  • Afternoon session is from 1 to 4 p.m.
  • You do not have to attend both sessions, but are more than welcome to.

If interested, please register by March 17 by contacting the Christian County Health Department at 217-824-4113.
