The last week of July, of every year, is a special week for some winged friends as it’s National Moth Week.  This year Illinois Extension has partnered with Stinson Library, USDA Shawnee National Forest, Dixon Springs Agricultural Center, The Science Center of Carbondale, Rend Lake US Army Corps Visitor Center, IDNR Barkhausen Cache River Wetland and Center Giant City State Park to host a week of programs honoring moths.

Come out for a golden hour and nighttime hike at Lake Murphysboro State Park to learn more about moths during National Moth Week with Illinois Extension Horticulture Educator, Kimberly Rohling. Attendees should bring a camera, headlamp or flashlight, since the hike will conclude at dark. If you would like to assist with citizen science efforts download the iNaturalist before you attend the event.

This is a free event and open to all ages!

Be sure to check out other moth events during the week.
