The last week of July, of every year, is a special week for some winged friends as it’s National Moth Week.  This year Illinois Extension has partnered with Stinson Library, USDA Shawnee National Forest, Dixson Springs Agricultural Center, The Science Center of Carbondale, Rend Lake US Army Corps Visitor Center, IDNR Barkhausen Cache River Wetland and Center Giant City State Park to host a week of programs honoring moths.

Come join us for Magnificent Moths! Did you know there are over 150,000 species of moths in the world? Moths play an important role in the food web, but are often ignored. Join us for this family event all about moths!

  • Learn how to tell a moth from other insects
  • Learn how to attract moths at night
  • Plant your own flower to attract moths
  • Participate in make and take crafts And more!

This program is free and open to the public with activities for youth ages 5-17.
