About this program:

In 2024, three periodical cicada broods will emerge in Illinois! Join us in April to learn more about these interesting insects. Horticulture Educator Jamie Viebach will share this winged creature’s history, lifecycles, and what effect they will have on plants and our lifestyle. (For those interested, there also will be a cicada recipe to take home!)

Three options to join this in-person presentation:

Registration information:

  • Designed for adults (Youth ages 12+ may attend with an adult). 
  • Registration required for each person attending and space is limited.
  • Cost: FREE (donations welcome, see more details below)

How to donate (OPTIONAL):

  1. Go to our website at extension.illinois.edu/dkk  
  2. In the upper right corner, click the “Give” link.
  3. Choose or fill in a dollar amount.
  4. Then be sure to select “DuPage, Kane, Kendall Extension Local Gift Account.” These funds are for our local tri-county unit specifically.  
  5. Click the “Continue to U of I Foundation” button and complete the payment process. You will receive a confirmation email from the U of I Foundation for your records.
