Fire is more than the combustion of fuel for energy. Fire has a deep cultural and environmental history for humans, the land, and wildlife. This presentation will go over a bit of the history of fire in Illinois, where we are now, and what we need for the future.
Karla Griesbaum is an Extension Educator in Natural Resources, Environment, and Energy. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources and Environmental Science and a Master’s degree in Plant Biology. Her favorite topics to teach about are safe and ethical foraging, invasive species, prescribed burning, native plants, fungi, and wildlife.
