Join the Shawnee National Forest, Friends of the Shawnee, and Illinois Extension at the LaRue Pine Hills Research Natural Area on Snake Road as we work together to combat invasive herbaceous plants that threaten our forest, like the beefstake plant. We will be hand-pulling and applying herbicide to the plants we aim to eradicate.
We will gather on June 9 at 10:00 AM. You can sign up to volunteer for either part of the day or for both shifts to make a full day of it. Shifts are scheduled from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM. Volunteers should wear long pants and closed-toed shoes. If you plan to stay for both shifts, please bring a lunch, as we will take a break from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM to eat.
If you would like to learn more about this program or need a reasonable accommodation to participate, please contact Anne Townsend at cupquake@illinois.edu. Early requests are strongly encouraged to allow sufficient time for meeting access needs.
