STEAM Summer Camp Coordinator
This position will provide planning and coordination support for summer educational programming in a day camp setting under the supervision of the 4-H metro youth development educator in the Fulton-Mason-Peoria-Tazewell unit.
Educational programming will be with mostly 5–18-year-old youth in STEAM career shadowing experiences and hands on workshops. The learning experiences will focus on science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics.
- 4G STEM Camp: June 16-20, Bradley University, 8:00-5:00 p.m.
- STEAM activities, day camps and workshops ongoing throughout summer
- Coordinating with teen teachers to implement summer STEAM programming
Responsibilities:
- Participate in training for STEAM Programming Summer Camp Coordinator (locally).
- Assemble materials and equipment needed to conduct the learning experiences.
- Gather materials for the reflection and project building portion of the STEAM camps
- Assist unit staff with coordination of camp sites and schedule
- Assist unit staff in carrying out a risk management plan for STEAM sessions and make sure each part of the plan is implemented.
- Collect impact data.
- Summarize participant enrollment and attendance data; evaluations; impact data and expenses for each camp session.
- Provide a written report of the STEAM camp process, successes and recommendations.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year of post secondary education.
- Licensed driver in good standing with access to a vehicle that can be used daily for the job and proof of liability insurance at the Illinois required events.
- Ability to work with school-aged children.
- No record of child abuse or neglect or criminal record that would create risk for children or University of Illinois’ 4-H Youth Programs.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Organizational skills.
- Computer skills: Microsoft Office.
- Experience working with youth in groups.
- Ability to work under off-site supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM ) experience
- Experience teaching youth in non-formal settings
- Experience working with and coordinating adult volunteers.

Employment Parameters: This position is available from May 1, 2025, up to 7.5 hours per day and 25 hours per week through the end of camps. Employment prior to the camp weeks will involve advance preparation and planning, which will be fewer hours per week in May and more time for most of June/July. Employment following camp and learning experiences will include wrap up activities and evaluation summaries.

SNAP-Education, Community Worker, Fulton County
The civil service employee will support the implementation of the University of Illinois Extension Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Education Program (SNAP-Ed) as directed by the specified County Director. The Community Outreach Worker will work with local residents (adults and youth) identified for SNAP-Ed programming to provide basic nutrition, food safety, physical activity, and food budgeting education for low-income individuals. The intent of this program is to work in collaboration with SNAP eligible families to provide educational services, information and skills that empower families to make positive changes for their health.
This person will conduct basic nutrition, food safety, physical activity and food budgeting programs for intended population at organizations/agencies within the target community as outlined in the SNAP-Ed plan. This may include leading active cooking demonstrations and leading basic physical activity demonstrations for adult and youth audiences.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. One (1) year (12 months) of experience (paid or unpaid) in work related to the job to be performed.
