Engage your family this summer with Food, Fun, 4-H at-home cooking program

Summer is a great time to get your kids or grandkids into the kitchen to learn how to prepare home-cooked meals, try new foods, develop communication skills, and have fun. Illinois Extension is offering a free once-a-month program where families can receive a menu kit during July, August, and September to unite them around the dinner table.

Sign up by June 30 and receive a themed recipe for one complete meal, educational information, nutritional facts, conversation starter topics, and ideas for a family physical activity via email each month. Families can extend the learning by shopping for the recipe ingredients together. Win a kitchen utensil kit when your family completes all three months. While families from all states are welcome to participate, only Illinois residents are eligible for prizes.

Created by Oklahoma State University Extension, Food, Fun, 4-H is funded through the 4-H Healthy Habits grant, presented by National 4-H Council and the Walmart Foundation. Anyone may register for the program. To learn more information and to register online, visit go.illinois.edu/FoodFun4H. If you need reasonable accommodation to participate, please call 217-826-5422. Early requests are encouraged to allow sufficient time to meet your needs.

ABOUT EXTENSION: Illinois Extension leads public outreach for University of Illinois by translating research into action plans that allow Illinois families, businesses, and community leaders to solve problems, make informed decisions, and adapt to changes and opportunities.
