OREGON, Ill. – Ag in the Classroom offers freezer meals for the holiday season. There is still time to order your meal sets by Dec. 1, so don’t let this opportunity pass you up. These would make great gifts for the hard to buy for loved ones on your holiday list or think of who would appreciate the easy preparation for a home-cooked meal. University of Illinois Extension has the solution for you.
Individually proportioned meals are prepared and frozen for convenience. Two sets of the following five meals include: chicken and biscuits, pulled pork loaded baked potato, ham and potatoes, meatloaf with sweet potatoes, and shepherd’s pie.
The cost for the two sets of 5 meals is $80. Proceeds will benefit the Ogle-Carroll Ag in the Classroom Program. Place your order by Thursday, Dec. 1. Order online at: go.illinois.edu/freezermeals.
You can also call the Ogle County Extension office at 815-732-2191, request a paper order form and pay by check. Mail your name, phone number, number of meal sets (come in a set of 2 or 10 meals), and payment to 811 S Clay Street, Mt. Carroll, IL 61053. Make checks payable to Ogle-Carroll Ag Partnership (OCAP).
Meal pickup will be on Tuesday, Dec. 20, from 3 p.m.-5 p.m. at the University of Illinois Extension office, 421 W Pines Rd., Ste 10 in Oregon.
Agriculture in the Classroom is a statewide educational program with lessons offered to kindergarten through eighth grade. Its goal is to help students, teachers, and the public gain greater awareness of the role of agriculture in the economy and society. This program is offered through the University of Illinois Extension Ogle County in partnership with Ogle County Farm Bureau, Carroll County Farm Bureau, Ogle County Soil & Water, and Carroll County Soil & Water.
