New Rochelle Green Thumbs 4-H Club grows vegetables with local youth

youth and adult gardening

OREGON, Ill. - Are you looking for a fun, friend-filled, free club to learn about vegetables and gardening? Ogle County 4-H is excited to partner with Flagg-Rochelle Public Library and the Ogle County Master Gardeners to teach youth about growing vegetables. This new horticulture club, Rochelle Green Thumbs 4-H Club, is open to any youth in Ogle County, ages 8-18, by Sept. 1, 2023. Learn what 4-H and this horticulture project are about, plant vegetables by seed to grow, learn, and harvest. Youth will assist with caring for the garden and learning more about growing their vegetables. After youth harvest, they can exhibit their vegetables at the Ogle County 4-H Fair on Tuesday, July 30, to win a ribbon and potentially an award!

The first meeting will take place on Feb. 5 at 6:00 p.m. This club will meet at the library on the first Monday of the month, with the last meeting on July 1. There will be a special meeting on July 29 to finalize fair projects. Please register by calling the Flagg-Rochelle Public Library at 815-562-3431.
