Raising the Minimum Wage in Illinois Webinar

URBANA, Ill. – Under new legislation, Illinois' minimum wage is set to increase from $8.25 per hour up to $10 by July 1, 2020. Learn about the policy implications of this increase with the Illinois Extension Local Government Education fall webinar Raising the Minimum Wage in Illinois. 

This free webinar from noon to 1 p.m. CST Thursday, November 14 is aimed at government officials and administrators. Please register in advance online. Dr. Robert Bruno, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Frank Manzo, MPP, Midwest Economic Policy Institute will cover labor relations, labor unions, workplace practices and labor and employment policy implications regarding raising the minimum wage in Illinois. The webinar will include information from the report co-authored by Manzo and Dr. Bruno Raising the Minimum Wage: What $10, $13, or $15 Per Hour Would Mean for Illinois.

Professor Bruno has published numerous scholarly articles on a diverse range of labor relations subjects, has co-authored numerous research reports on labor unions, workplace practices and labor and employment policy topics, and authored four books. Professor Bruno has given expert testimony to the US House Committee on Education and the Workforce, as well as the Illinois House and Senate Committees on Labor and Commerce.  He has also been a frequent commentator on labor relations for both regional and national media, and has served as a commentator for numerous newspapers. Bruno is the co-editor of Labor Studies Journal and is an executive board member of the United Association for Labor Education and Chicago Chapter of the Labor Employment Relations Association.

Frank Manzo IV, MPP is the Policy Director of the Midwest Economic Policy Institute, MEPI. He earned a Master of Public Policy from the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
