If you love being outdoors, you’ll love the shooting sports archery project! This project covers archery basics and provides an opportunity to learn archery in a safe and controlled environment from certified instructors. It is open to youth ages 8 to 18.
Classes will be held starting Sunday, April 24, 1 to 3 p.m. at Pekin Archery, 2501 Edgewater Drive, Pekin, IL 61554.
Future dates will be confirmed at that meeting, however, tentative dates are: May 1, 15, 22, 29, and June 5, from 1-3 p.m.
Cost is $20 4-H annual program fee (if not already a 4-H member). Due to the generosity of the Peoria Area Branch of the National Deer Association, the usual $10 supply fee for this program are being paid by the NDA.
Additional documents needed prior to Archery members being allowed to shoot include:
- Medical Emergency Form
- Risk Form
- Photo Release (if you agree to allow photos of your child and you do not already have one on file)
You can mail these forms to the Peoria office OR bring them to the first shoot. But please be aware we are not allowed to let youth handle the bows until the complete paperwork is turned in to us.
If you have additional questions or need a reasonable accommodation contact Kristi Smith, Peoria 4-H program coordinator at kristis2@illinois.edu or 309-645-3140.
