Beef, Sheep, Swine, Goat, and Dairy Cattle (if showing live animals)
Statewide requirement is that members in these projects must complete YQCA – Youth for the Quality Care of Animals. Must be done every year they are in the project, to be able to show and be 4-H premium-eligible. Also, State Fair entries will not be approved without this. There are options for youth to attend a one hour, in-person training presented by Extension staff, or youth may take online training individually.
Mason County will host an in-person training on Friday, April 7, 2023, (Good Friday) at 10 a.m. at the U of I Extension office in Havana.
- Pre-registration online is required. You may not just show up.
- $3 per person online payment ahead of time is required. You cannot pay by check or cash, must be done online.
- Youth may take training online individually. Cost for this is $12 per person. https://yqcaprogram.org/
Please email your county 4-H program coordinator a copy of your certification once you complete this training (online, another location, or in Lewistown.
