Vermilion County Master Gardener Susie Willard will teach attendees how to sow seeds in winter for spring plants. Winter sowing involves sowing seeds in an enclosed container outside during winter. This allows them to germinate, be divided and gardeners have small plants started for spring. This is an easy way to get a head start on the 2024 gardening season. Attendees will basically be creating a mini greenhouse where seeds can germinate and grow outdoors. The fee is $5 per person.
Please Bring:
• Translucent 1-gallon jugs (preferred) Limit two containers per person.
(Other containers must hold at least 3” of potting soil)
• Your seeds (vegetables, annuals, natives – No tropical plant seeds)
Items provided:
• Duct tape
• Potting soil
• Scissors
• Tools to make holes in the container for drainage
