What is a watershed? Why should you care? Everyone lives in a watershed, but do you understand what that means?

Water ebbs and flows, rains and pours, trickles and floods, and it is our communities' constant, steady background for life.

A watershed provides homes, communities, and businesses with fresh drinking water, recreational opportunities, and other vital resources. Learn about the watersheds in Boone County and the importance of taking care of the water we interact with daily.

This program is hosted by Extension Watershed Outreach Associate Nicole Haverback. Nicole has a background in agriculture and grew up in Henry County. She attended Black Hawk College East Campus and earned a B.S. in Agriculture and Rural Policy from Iowa State University. Nicole coordinates watershed and planning activities to reduce nutrient losses from priority watersheds, provides expertise on best management practices for nutrient loss, and conducts outreach on agricultural conservation practices outlined in the Illinois NLRS.

Registration is required at the link above or by calling the Boone County Extension office at 815-544-3710. Space is limited.
