Champaign County 4-H clubs honored for community service

2023 4-H Awards. Club Award. 4-H Clover.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Champaign Mixed Clovers and Sadorus All Stars were recently honored for their achievements with a statewide Excel Club Award. Recognition and awards are an essential part of 4-H. Recognition encourages young people and increases their interest in opportunities as they become more capable young adults.

"These awards serve as a tangible reminder of the profound impact these clubs' service has on their communities," says 4-H educator Mynda Tracy. “4-H teaches 'Learn by Doing,' and through volunteering, our young members cultivate empathy, leadership skills, and a connection to their community that blossoms into lifelong commitment."

Both clubs were honored with a Community Service Excel Club Award due to a demonstrated focus on their 4-H club’s work in service to/for others, emphasizing youth leadership in planning and implementing the service work.

"Head, Heart, Hands, and Health – the 4-H motto comes alive through community service,” says Mynda. “By giving back, our young members embody the values of citizenship, leadership, and service that lie at the heart of 4-H."
