Fulton County 4-H shows are scheduled

LEWISTOWN, Ill. - Through University of Illinois Extension, Fulton County 4-H members work on projects throughout the year, and exhibit their projects during the summer.  Judges evaluate the 4-H members' projects in a conference judging system, where the judge discusses the project with the member.

Sewing and Textiles projects will be judged on Saturday, June 19, at the University of Illinois  Extension office, Fulton County, in Lewistown. Judging will begin at 10 a.m. for Shopping projects and 1 p.m. for Sewing projects.

The 4-H Performing Arts Night will be Saturday, June 19, at 7 p.m. at the Checkrow Community Church, 3587 E Checkrow Road, Avon. This is a recital-type evening of entertainment, including vocal and instrumental numbers, dance, skits, and more.

A large, one-day General Show will be held on Saturday, July 10, at Cuba Junior-Senior High School, just south of Cuba. Judging will begin at 9 a.m., 12 p.m., and 3 p.m., depending on the project groups.  Projects judged include foods, art, mechanical items, horticulture, and much more.

The 4-H Pet Show will be held on Wednesday, July 14, at the Extension office in Lewistown, beginning at 6 p.m. Small pets such as cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, caged birds, hamsters, etc. will be judged at this time.

Dog Care and Dog Obedience projects are judged beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 26, at the fairgrounds in Lewistown. 4-H livestock shows are held in conjunction with the Fulton County Fair livestock shows, on July 27, 28, and 29. While they are held at the same location, the 4-H judging is a separate rating system.

The official 4-H Horse Show will be held on Saturday, August 7, at 9 a.m. at the Fulton County Fairgrounds in Lewistown.

The 4-H Public Presentations Contest was held May 15 at the Extension Office in Lewistown.

The public is invited to visit these 4-H shows and see the wonderful work our Fulton County 4-H members have done.  Please call the Extension office to inquire current policies at the time regarding masks and social distancing, as we will follow current CDC guidelines.
