STEM Academy engages youth with virtual reality this year

STEM Academy has done some pretty amazing projects starting with building a secret lock box, calling the International Space Station, and programming autonomous cars. This year is no different with an amazing opportunity for youth to dive into the world of augmented and virtual reality.  Through the collaboration of Pearl Technology, Richwood Township, Caterpillar, and University of Illinois Extension, fifteen youth will be able to explore virtual and augmented reality, learn from professionals in the field and build their own mixed reality experience.

Due to age restrictions with some of the programs we will be using, this year’s STEM Academy will be open to youth ages 14-16 years old. This is your chance to transform your interest into expertise and lead the next wave of technical creators. Don’t just play the game – CHANGE the GAME!

STEM Academy this year will be July 15-19, from 8:30 a.m. – Noon at Goodwill Commons, 2319 E War Memorial Dr, Peoria, IL 61614.  Registration deadline is June 30, but spaces fill fast, so be sure to sign up soon! Reminder: STEM Academy is open to youth 14-16 years old this year.
