Each summer as we venture out into our yards and natural areas we are reminded of the potential for contact with ticks and tickborne diseases. Join the East Central Illinois Master Naturalists and Dr. Becky Smith for “Ticks and Tickborne Diseases of Illinois” on Monday, June 17 at 7 pm in the Champaign Extension Auditorium, 801 N Country Fair Dr., Champaign, IL 61821 or online.

Learn where ticks and tickborne diseases have been found in Illinois, how climate change may affect them in the future, and how that change may impact us as we explore the outdoors. Learn how personal protective measures and landscape management can protect people and animals from ticks and the diseases they transmit.

Dr. Sulagna Chakraborty is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Medicine at the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign. Her research focuses on ecological and epidemiological drivers of vector-borne and zoonotic diseases.
