4-H Federation to host countywide 4-H roller skating party

LEWISTOWN, Ill - Fulton County 4-H Federation will host a county-wide 4-H roller skating party on Saturday, January 14 from 3 – 5 p.m. at Skateland Canton, located at 1040 W Hickory St, Canton. All Fulton County 4-H members and their families are invited to attend and have a fun-filled afternoon skating and socializing with fellow 4-Hers.

Admission and skate rental will be paid by Fulton County 4-H Federation. Members and their guests are asked to bring their own money to purchase snacks and/or drinks from the concession stand.

Federation has chosen the Humane Society of Fulton County as the organization they want to help at this winter event. Members and guests are encouraged, but not required to bring donations to the skating party. Wish list items include: scoopable kitty litter, bleach, laundry detergent, cleaning supplies, paper towels, dog leashes, harnesses, dog brushes, and black markers. Cash donations are also gratefully accepted. 4-H Federation will collect and deliver all donations to the Humane Society of Fulton County.

4-H Federation members are teens who help plan and carry out countywide 4-H events. They give input on what is popular and interesting to youth. They also form a connection, or liaison, from the county 4-H program back to their 4-H community clubs. 4-H Federation members also have the responsibility of encouraging participation in county 4-H events or shows, and answer questions posed by younger members who might not have attended some of these events before. They do serve in a type of ambassador role for the County 4-H Program, in the way they share information with others.
