Illinois Extension and local libraries partner for Lessons at the Library

RANTOUL AND CISSNA PARK, Ill University of Illinois Extension is excited to bring its popular 

Lessons for Living series back to local libraries with an all-new lineup of free, in-person sessions designed to help individuals navigate life’s challenges with practical tips and inspiring insights. Starting with the first session on February 13, all lessons in the series will be broadcast at:

  • Cissna Park Community Library, 511 N 2nd St., Cissna Park, IL
  • Rantoul Public Library, 106 W Flessner Ave., Rantoul, IL

This year’s series features timely topics aimed at helping people lead healthier, more fulfilling lives, from understanding inflation and organizing finances to discovering the health benefits of nature and honey. Whether participants are looking for tips on managing a fixed-income budget or ways to reduce clutter at home, these sessions offer practical advice for everyday living.

“We are excited to continue our partnership with the Cissna Park Community Library and Rantoul Public Library,” said Extension Educator Emily Harmon. “Libraries are a cornerstone of the community, and these new programs will offer valuable resources to help people of all ages thrive. We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect with our communities and provide this much-needed educational content in such welcoming spaces.”

  • Inflation: How It Affects a Fixed-Income Budget
    Thursday, Feb. 13 | 10 AM or Tuesday, Aug. 12 | 2 PM
    Understand how inflation impacts buying power and adjust your budget accordingly.
  • Where to Start: Declutter Your Home and Finances
    Tuesday, April 8 | 2 PM or Thursday, Sept. 11 | 10 AM
    Learn strategies to declutter your home and organize your financial paperwork.
  • Honey and Health: Nature’s Sweet Treat
    Thursday, May 15 | 10 AM or Tuesday, Oct. 14 | 2 PM
    Discover the health benefits of honey and how to incorporate it into your diet.
  • Wellness in Nature
    Tuesday, June 10 | 10 AM or Thursday, Nov. 13 | 2 PM
    Explore the mental and physical health benefits of spending time in nature.

How to Register

Participation is free, but registration is required. To register for the sessions in Cissna Park, please contact the library at donna.jean@cpschool.org or call 815-457-2452.
