Local Workforce Investment Opportunity Areas Updates

University of Illinois Extension and Richland County Development Corporation will co-host a legislative summary and update of the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), regional and local offerings, workforce investment areas, and resources. Participants can expect to get a general knowledge of WIOA services offered by Local Workforce Investment Area 23 and their partners and learn more about who benefits from WIOA services. Jamie will highlight the Local Workforce Innovation Area 23’s purpose, benefits, and goals as it pertains to WIOA. The webinar will open with remarks from Courtney Yockey, Executive Director of the Richland County Development Corporation.

About the presenters:

Jamie Corda Hadjaoui is the Director of Workforce Investment for LWIA 23, based at Lake Land College, where she strives to connect job seekers and employers together through business development programs. She brings federal grant writing experience as well as a passion for strengthening the economy through career and technical education from her previous position as Lake Land’s Perkins Grant Specialist. Prior to Jamie’s efforts at Lake Land, she honed her skills in sales and marketing, working for a Champaign-based real estate company, The Atkins Group, for over seven years. Jamie has also developed an understanding of human resources management at Bergner’s department store, and polished her management and operations abilities over the course of three years with Arby’s in Rantoul.

After spending a decade working in training and supervisory positions, Jamie knows how vital it is to help job seekers access employment, education, and training to succeed in the labor market and to match employers with the skilled workers they need to compete in the global economy. One of the aspects of training she enjoyed the most, was seeing those she worked with beam with pride when they accomplish their goals, be it learning a new skill or obtaining a stable job to provide for their families. Jamie holds an MBA from Eastern Illinois University. She also earned a BS in Business Administration at EIU and holds an AGS from Parkland College.
