4-H volunteers in our area inducted into 4-H Hall of Fame

The Illinois 4-H Foundation annually recognizes 4-H volunteers for exemplary service.  This year, 80 new members were inducted into the Illinois 4-H Hall of Fame during a celebration Tuesday, August 13 at the Illinois State Fair in Springfield, including four volunteers from our unit which include:

Krystal Jungmann for Mercer County 4-H. She is currently a Kimel 4-H Club leader and has also organized and taught 4-H Robotics. She is an Advisor for the Illinois 4-H Foundation/College of ACES Student Advancement Committee. She is past chair and current board member of the Mercer County Extension and 4-H Foundation and has also served on the Mercer County 4-H BBQ Fundraiser Committee. Krystal held many roles in her 4-H career including 4-H House President and 4-H House Alumni-Selection Committee officer. As a youth, Krystal served on the Henderson County 4-H Federation and was a 10 year member of the Henderson County Bald Bluff Blue Ribbons (holding all offices).

Amie Callahan for Rock Island County 4-H. Amie continually demonstrates her dedication to the program by volunteering as the Magical Muggles 4-H Club leader for the past ten years. She also supports 4-H at the county level where she has co-chaired the 4-H awards banquet and leads 4-H Junkdrawer Robotics Clubs and teaches sessions at the annual 4-H Academy. Amie is a proud 4-H alumnus who was a member of the York Cedar 4-H in Carroll County when she was growing up. She knows firsthand how important 4-H is in building life skills, friendships, and confidence.

Karen and Ron Horsley for Stark County 4-H. They were nominated by Stark County 4-H parents, leaders and members for their dedication to the shooting sports program. Karen and Ron have been 4-H Shooting Sports leaders for 5 years, offering all of the shooting sports disciplines. They work hard to help kids become well-rounded, responsible, caring adults. Their club members assist with the local Pheasants Forever chapter, promote safe shooting practices at numerous community events. Karen and Ron do all of this in addition to keeping up with their own four kids, leading the Boy Scout troop and staying involved with the Stark County Century Clovers 4-H club. Karen grew up knowing the importance of 4-H as she was an 11-year member of the Eager Beavers 4-H club in Stark County and she and Ron pass this knowledge on to the youth in Stark County.

All of these volunteers have been dedicated and go above and beyond the call of duty to share their time and talents in support of their county 4-H programs. We are fortunate to have such dedicated volunteers serving the youth of our community. Congratulations to all of these Illinois 4-H Hall of Fame Winners for 2019!
