Rachel joined the Illinois Extension team as Horticulture Program Coordinator in March of 2025. Her work involves planning and facilitating horticulture projects throughout Fulton, Mason, Peoria, and Tazewell counties. With a dedication to facilitating growth, Rachel is grateful to be able to assist others in fulfilling their passion for and harmony with Mother Nature.
Rachel grew up in Pekin, Illinois and is a proud Central Illinoisan. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Master of Science in Teaching and Learning from Illinois State University. She worked in the field of K-12 public education for nearly a decade, with seven years as a first and second grade teacher. In October of 2024, Rachel completed her Master Gardener training. Now, she will be supporting Master Gardeners with their wonderful community and service projects.
Outside of the office, Rachel can be found appreciating time with her family and friends, adoring plants and animals, working on the cottage garden of her dreams, or updating her vintage home.
