Mercer County Fishing Club will start on April 24, from 9-10 a.m. @ Central Park in Aledo. Then it will meet at various ponds in Mercer County every Saturday, May 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 from 9 to 11 am. Pond locations to be announced. Youth must have rides to the ponds for each meeting.

Limit of 10 youth.  Open to youth 8 to 15 years of age.

Fee is cost of your own supplies, plus $10 bait fee (club will supply the live bait). New 4-H members must pay the annual 4-H $20 program fee.

Youth should bring the following equipment each week.

  • Rod and reel in good working condition with fresh line
  • Size 6 eagle claw Aberdeen hooks
  • Split shot and small bobbers
  • Fingernail clippers or kids Fiskar scissors for cutting line
  • Small needle nose pliers for hook removal

If you are a bassmaster bring:

  • Weedless jigs with trailers
  • Plastic worms and spinnerbaits

SAFETY PROTOCOLS

  • Social distancing of 6ft will be required.  
  • Mask will be required when social distancing cannot be maintained.
