This free webinar, presented by University of Illinois Extension in collaboration with Prairie River Network, delves into the impending climate change hazards Illinois will confront. Participants will discover strategies for leveraging the federal BRIC grant to finance projects to mitigate these natural threats. The presentation will include Trent Ford's research on climate change in Southern Illinois and a discussion of the next round of the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities grant.

Presenters:

Trent Ford is an expert in climate and climate change and its interactions and impacts, especially regarding water, serving as the Illinois State Climatologist since 2019.

Jeff Thompson is a State Hazard Mitigation officer who serves the state’s counties and local jurisdictions, working directly with FEMA and their hazard mitigation grant program managers to ensure communities get the support and information needed to apply for BRIC and FMA grants.

Randa Watts is a clean water organizer at Prairie River Network. Watts is committed to raising awareness about Illinois' water crisis and supporting communities in securing funding for projects to enhance our water systems, particularly those in need.
