Preserve your lands by keeping your soil on your fields.
When it comes to farming, there is no substitute for experience. This March during National Soil Health Week, producers and landowners can connect with local Illinois farmers and learn from others’ hands-on knowledge on preventing soil loss in their fields at the Cultivating Conversations panel discussion in Fairfield.
Local farmers will tell the story of soil loss on their farms and share insights through their years of experience before answering your questions about keeping soil on the field. Network with other producers, learn how practices work, and explore cost-share opportunities. This event will also include a discussion about the Illinois Nutrient Loss Reduction Strategy.
A light breakfast will be provided.
Across Illinois, farmers are working together to reduce nutrient loss from fields, which can pollute local waterways, contaminate drinking water, lower property values, hinder recreational opportunities, and harm local businesses and tourism. Explore more about preventing nutrient loss in Illinois and the Illinois Nutrient Loss Reduction Strategy.
Presenters: Emma Eldridge, University of Illinois Extension Nutrient Loss Reduction Strategy.
