Leaf it to the Library

Join Emily Swihart, Illinois Extension horticulture educator for these free programs at the Edwards River Library in Aledo. You can sign up for one or both. Here are the times and topics:

• 10 AM: Four Seasons of Unique Garden Tasks
  • Many gardeners know the basics—plant, water, weed—but what about the garden tasks that play a supporting yet critical role in the landscape? During this educational session, Emily will provide a guide for seasonal gardening tasks that contribute to a successful gardening experience. She will also answer your landscape questions, like: What season is best for planting trees? When should houseplants be repotted? When is the best time to fertilize my lawn? and more.
• 11:30 AM: Flowers in the Home Garden
  • Discover the joy of homegrown bouquets. During this session, Emily will share how to cultivate a beautiful cut flower garden. You'll leave knowing how to select, plant, and care for species that combine to make a stunning bouquet. In addition, Swihart has taken the guesswork out of garden planning by creating garden recipes that can be planted as proposed or used as a starting point for a personalized garden design.
