MT. VERNON, Ill. - It's farmers market season and managers are faced with many unique challenges this year. Natalie Kenny Marquez, Illinois Farmers Market Association (IFMA), will provide tips to incorporate into public relations and communication efforts aimed at vendors, staff volunteers, and shoppers operating under new Illinois Department of Public Health guidelines during a free online webinar hosted by University of Illinois Extension and the IFMA.
One must register for the online webinar to receive connection information.
Marquez serves as marketing director for the Urbana Market at the Square. New safety plans listed on its website include:
- 6' space between vendor booths
- One shopper per household and no children (see list of exceptions allowed)
- In/out format with no social gathering
- Products include food products only
- Marked 6' waiting lines
- Strict sanitizing of surfaces and equipment
- Face masks for all staff and volunteers
To limit gatherings, markets will not include entertainment or seating options and entrance will be limited to one location.
