Rock Island Rotary Club and Rock Island County Extension & 4-H Education Foundation Award 53rd Annual Bert Blood Scholarships

(ROCK ISLAND, Ill) The Rock Island Rotary Club and the Rock Island County Extension & 4-H Education Foundation are pleased to announce the recipients of the 53rd Annual Bert Blood Scholarships. This year, scholarships were awarded to four Rock Island County 4-H high school seniors and one alumni college student.

Scholarship Recipients:

  • Laikyn Parchert: $1,500 award. Laikyn is a member of the Edgington Go-Getters 4-H club and plans to attend Iowa State University, majoring in Agricultural Studies with an emphasis on Animal Science, Agricultural Business, and Ag Communications.
  • Lilyanne Bohnsack: $1,250 award. Lilyanne is a member of the Rockridge Royals 4-H Club and plans to attend Iowa State University, majoring in Architecture.
  • Emily Herrick: $1,000 award. Emily is a member of 4-H in the City and plans to attend Black Hawk College, majoring in Art and Graphic Design.
  • Carma Chavez: $500 award. Carma is a member of 4-H in the City and plans to attend Moody Bible Institute, majoring in Crisis and Trauma Care.
  • Cassandra Bohnsack: $500 4-H alumni currently attending Iowa State University, majoring in Dairy Science.

The awards ceremony was led by John Wetzel, Bert Blood Rotary Chair; Jenny Garner, Illinois Extension County Director; Sue Rector, Rock Island Rotary Club President; and John Flaherty, President of the Rock Island County Extension & 4-H Foundation. It featured presentations by the top three winners about their 4-H experiences.

Congratulations to all the recipients! We wish them continued success in their academic and professional journeys.
