You may have recently discovered that you have diabetes or someone close to you does. You are not alone. One in 11 Americans has diabetes and one in three has prediabetes. Kristin Bogdonas, nutrition and wellness educator for University of Illinois Extension is offering a workshop that will introduce participants to some tools that can help manage carbohydrate intake and plan meals effectively. Bogdonas says, “Managing this disease will help prevent damage to your heart, eyes and nerves over time.”
Participants will receive a diabetes portion plate, carbohydrate counting pocket guide and presentation handouts. Class materials are funded, in part, by a City of Rock Island Gaming Grant.
Tools to Manage Diabetes Online will take place on Tuesday, November 10 from 4-5 pm via ZOOM. This program is free and is offered in conjunction with the Rock Island Public Library. Once registered, participants will pick up their class materials from the main library. Class size is limited to 20. Register for online Tools to Manage Diabetes here
