The summer series of University of Illinois Extension’s Four Seasons Gardening Program, which focuses on environmental stewardship, home gardening, and backyard food production, gets underway the month of June. The public is invited to participate in this free webinar series. The first session of the series is titled “Landscape Invasives and Native Alternatives.” University of Illinois horticulture educator Kelly Allsup will discuss some of the most common landscape plants with potentially invasive qualities in natural areas, and how you can replace them with native alternatives that are just as attractive.
This program will be offered via a live webinar on Tuesday, June 25th at 1:30 p.m. at the following University of Illinois Extension Offices: Bureau County in Princeton; Marshall-Putnam Counties in Henry; and LaSalle County in Ottawa. This webinar may also be viewed from wherever you have internet access by pre-registering at go.illinois.edu/4seasons_webinars. Other topics in the Summer series include “Youth Gardening – Back Pocket Lessons and Activities” set for Tuesday, July 16th at 1:30 p.m., and “Going Organic – Are organic pesticides safer than synthetic?” set for Tuesday, August 6th at 1:30 p.m.
