Sensory Bins

Science proves that at a very young age children begin to touch things to learn about them.  Sensory bins are a great way for toddlers and some older children to learn more about the world around them through the use of their senses.  The bins can provide tactile interaction, visual stimulation and even smell.  Sensory bins are containers of any size that usually has one base item such as sand, bird seed or rocks along with other correlating items.  For instance if your base item is sand you may decide to incorporate a sea shell or two or some starfish.  The bins are for students to learn while having fun, so let your imagination run wild!  The best part is that everything involved is enclosed in a bin for easy clean up and storage for future fun!  In the photo teachers decide what items they would include in their sensory bins.
