Consumers given a random list of 15 sources of information about meat and livestock rated USDA as the most trustworthy source and Chipotle Mexican Grill as the least trustworthy, according to the Oklahoma State University Food Demand Survey.
Respondents rated both the Humane Society of the United States and the American Meat Institute as more credible than the New York Times or ABC Nightly News, but they rated all of those ahead of the only meat processor listed on the survey, which was Tyson Foods.
Choosing only from sources listed in the survey, here is how the online survey with a sample size of at least 1,000 individuals rated the sources from most trustworthy to least:

- Center for Science in the Public Interest
- American Farm Bureau
- Humane Society of the United States
- American Meat Institute
- A professor from Harvard University
- National Cattlemen's Beef Association
- A professor from Texas A&M University
- New York Times

- McDonalds
- Chipotle Mexican Grill
