In this special behind the scenes blog post, I would like to share the story behind the title of my blog. It is probably fairly obvious that the title is a pun on my last name, but beyond the obvious pun, the initials of the blog—AMG—are also my initials. I also believe that "A Merry Gardener" is a good descriptor for me. I love growing and using plants and I want to help others do the same. My tag line—Horticulture for daily living—encapsulates this mission and serves as the focal point for the blog as a whole.

Online communication is a fabulous tool that allows us to connect with people near and far, but it is clear that written words online are not nearly as personal as more direct communication channels.

As the author of "A Merry Gardener," I would like to share a radio interview I did with Todd Gleason for the Illini Farm Report, in which I discuss how I chose a career in Extension.
