Add nutrients to your soil by composting at home.

Home composting is a great way to support our environment by introducing a sustainable, gardening component that builds healthy soils while reducing the volume of waste going to landfills. Discover the fascinating ins and outs of the decomposition process and learn how to turn waste into valuable organic matter by starting a compost pile at home.

Love learning new gardening techniques with new friends?

Join Illinois Extension staff at the Livingston County Extension Office March 7 from 1:30 - 3:30 PM for an in person viewing of Four Seasons Gardening Winter Webinar Series - Basics of Home Composting. Following the in person viewing, learn how to compost safely at home without the stink! Participants will leave with a 5 gallon composting bucket, ready for all your kitchen scraps.

This in person format is limited to 25 participants. There is a $5 material fee for workshop materials.

If you need a reasonable accommodation to participate in person, please call the McLean County Extension Office at 309-663-8306 or contact Liz Repplinger at pegg@illinois.edu. Early requests are strongly encouraged to allow sufficient time for meeting access needs.
