Livingston, McLean & Woodford County Master Naturalist Volunteer Screening

New Volunteers:

WELCOME! We are so excited that you are interested in learning more about becoming a volunteer. We appreciate your interest and look forward to your involvement. Currently, we are transitioning into a new system to screen volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, please reach out to the McLean Extension Office by calling 309-663-8306.

Volunteer Application Process

The University of Illinois Extension requires all volunteers to complete and agree to the following:

  • Volunteer Application and interview

  • An electronic criminal background and registered sex offender check through Sterling Volunteers.

  • A child abuse and neglect tracking system check through the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS).

  • Completion of The Abuse and Neglect Child Reporting Act (ANCRA) training.

  • Code of Conduct, Risk Waiver, Volunteer Agreement

  • Three reference checks

These documents will all be filled out through our online system. Applications for the Fall 2025 Master Naturalist Training program will be accepted May 1 through June 23, with interviews being held in early July.

Please contact Alison Meanor at ameanor.illinois.edu or call the office at 309-663-8270 to share your interest in the program or if you have any questions.
