Learn how to use an activity-based teaching tool.

Early elementary teachers and early childcare professionals know that teachable moments can help children build character and emotional awareness. Gain an understanding of how to effectively identify and use those moments in a classroom or childcare setting with the Terrific Teachable Moments framework – a research-based, youth development teaching resource from Illinois Extension that uses experiential learning to reinforce and encourage positive behaviors.

Participants will explore activities in the Terrific Teachable Moments program and app, learn about Six Pillars of Character and CHARACTER COUNTS!, and explore ways to apply the TTM approach to work and home childcare environments to reinforce positive behavior choices such as helping others, honesty, compassion, problem-solving, and self-control.

This session is eligible for professional development opportunities. Select applicable options during registration:

  • Gateway credits through Gateways to Opportunity
