Amy Henschen earned the National Association of Extension 4-H Agents (NAE4HA) national communicator award for the news story division and honored at the group's annual meeting in White Sulfur Springs, W.V.

Henschen began working as an Extension Educator for University of Illinois in July. The award was earned as a 4-H youth development agent for Colorado State University where she served for six years. Her award-winning news release recognized the work of a local 4-H member who put together a statewide leadership camp and community service project. Previously, Henschen has received national communicator awards for news stories and periodical publications. She also received the group's Excellence in Educational Technology award and the Achievement in Service award.

She currently provides 4-H program leadership in DuPage, Kane, and Kendall counties. She grew up in Lake County, Illinois, where she was an active 4-H member. She worked in marketing and public relations before joining the Peace Corps in Paraguay. Upon returning to the United States in 2013, she began work as a 4-H youth development agent with Colorado State University. She joined the University of Illinois Extension team in 2019. Henschen has experience with program management, outreach, volunteer development, youth robotics, and new audience development. She is a certified facilitator for the eXtension Impact Collaborative and a Click2Science professional development trainer.
