CHAMPAIGN, Ill – As the crisp fall air starts moving into the region, University of Illinois Extension invites you to join our invigorating Wellness Walks, led by Nutrition and Wellness Educator Rachel Mannen and Family Life Educator Emily Harmon. These walks offer a fantastic opportunity to explore local parks, learn valuable wellness tips, and connect with your community.

“Whether you're a seasoned walker or just starting out, our Wellness Walks are a great way to incorporate physical activity into your routine,” says program organizer Emily Harmon. “Our hope is to enjoy some beautiful weather, explore our local parks, and discover the next steps in our wellness journey together.”

Each walk will begin at 9:00 AM and conclude at 10:00 AM with participants enjoying a fun lesson or activity on a wellness topic, followed by a refreshing walk along paved paths. Several groups have plans to partner with Extension at the walks, including patient advocacy and consulting group Sideline MD. After each walk, there will be a giveaway.

Join us for a Wellness Walk on the following dates:

  • October 3: Hessel Park
  • October 10: Meadowbrook Park
  • October 24: Carle at The Fields Trail
  • October 31: Crystal Lake Park

What to Bring: Comfortable shoes and a water bottle. In case of inclement weather, the walks will be held indoors at the First Christian Church (3601 S Staley Rd, Champaign, IL 61822).
