Identifying Common Lawn and Garden Weeds

July 12 | 1:30 PM

All too often, homeowners struggle with invading weeds. They believe they are trying to control one species when, in fact, they have another species entirely, resulting in poor weed control. Don’t let this happen to you! Join Michelle Wiesbrook, Extension Pesticide Safety Education Program specialist, to learn about proper weed identification. Knowing what to look for and where to look makes weed identification considerably easier.

Four Seasons Gardening Series

The Four Seasons Gardening series is one of the most popular online programs offered by Illinois Extension. Each season, the team hosts three live one-hour webinars. Webinars are free. Registration is required, and space is limited. If you will need an accommodation to participate, please contact Gemini Bhalsod at gbhalsod@illinois.edu. Early requests are strongly encouraged.

Natives vs. Cultivars | June 21 @ 1:30 PM

Breeding and selection programs have given gardeners a vast array of choices when it comes to plants for the home landscape. In addition to seeking the newest, most unique plant cultivars, many gardeners are also wanting to plant for pollinators and beneficial insects. Illinois Extension horticulture educator Emily Swihart will explore the cross section of these two gardening trends in a effort to better understand how we can plant to impress creatures large and small.

Late Summer and Fall Blooming Plants | August 16 @ 1:30 PM

As the summer flowers fade away to cooling temperatures and shorter days, the growing season still has one last flower spectacle. In this session, Illinois Extension horticulture educator Chris Enroth, will go beyond mums to give us a few more options for our late summer and fall landscapes.
