What's Next: legal challenges related to COVID-19 for local governments

Local officials and agency staff in Illinois need to stay current with potential legal challenges related to COVID-19. To help navigate this ever-changing landscape, University of Illinois Extension, partnering with the Illinois Association of County Board Members, will discuss worker compensation and human resource issues related to COVID-19 at a free online webinar at noon, May 1. 

One must register to receive log-on information. The webinar includes an opportunity to ask questions. Presenters include Kelly Murray and Taylor Anderson of the Illinois Association of County Board Members, Jessica Bell of Heyl Royster, and Donna Rogers of Rogers HR Consulting.

About the presenters:

Heyl Royster is a regional Midwest law firm with more than 100 lawyers and eight offices located in Illinois, Missouri, and Mississippi. The firm provides legal services for businesses and corporations, professionals, healthcare organizations, governmental entities, universities, insurance carriers and other major institutions.

Jessica Bell, partner at Heyl Royster, focuses her practice on the defense of insurance clients and employers in workers' compensation matters. She joined the firm with extensive workers' compensation defense experience, having appeared before the Illinois Workers' Compensation Commission representing employers and insurance companies across the state. Jessica has also spoken with businesses directly to help assist in their understanding of the Workers' Compensation system, as well as the handling of claims within their business.

Donna Rogers is the owner of Rogers HR Consulting and serves as a consultant for the Counties of Illinois Risk Management Agency (CIRMA). Donna graduated magna cum laude with a master's degreee in Human Resources Development from the University of Illinois. She has earned the Senior Certified Professional certification from the Society of Human Resources Management and most recently earned the International Public Management Associations Certified Professional designation. Donna regularly delivers presentations among professionals at seminars and conferences internationally and has guest lectured at several universities.
