Herbert serves on the Illinois Extension marketing and communications team as a media communications coordinator, providing marketing support to Family and Consumer Sciences, Integrated Health Disparities, and Community and Economic Development program staff statewide. His work includes social media management, writing, copy editing, graphic design, project management, website content, and video editing.

He began working for Illinois Extension in Champaign County as a Community Worker and then served as Marketing and Communication Coordinator. In April 2022, he accepted the opportunity to serve as a Marketing and Communications Specialist in Technology Services at the University of Illinois. In this position, he developed strategic decisions to ensure Technology Services are recognizable to the public, selected appropriate marketing tools, and developed marketing materials to promote products and services. He made strategic plans to determine the best media for specific programs and target audiences. He managed online marketing, including web, email, newsletters, and social media. Also, he produced and created videos to build brand awareness and attractively packaged learning materials to make them available to the University of Illinois community on social networks.

Herbert earned a bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Business in his home country and developed in the broadcasting business area. He worked for over ten years as a Marketing Manager at a TV station. He produced content for different TV shows during that time, achieving high rating points and advertising strategies for the sponsoring brands, generating good profits for his company and excellent results for advertisers.

In 2015, Herbert moved to the United States and worked in a creative agency in Orlando, FL, as an Account Executive and oversaw three brands, achieving good results. In 2017 he moved to Champaign and earned a second bachelor’s degree in Arts focused on professional development and communications at Eastern Illinois University. In 2021 he earned a master’s degree in communication studies and leadership at Eastern Illinois University.
