Herbert Chavez is an experienced media communications professional with more than 20 years of expertise in marketing, advertising, and strategic communications across government, nonprofit, corporate, and higher‑education sectors. As a media communications coordinator with the Illinois Extension marketing and communications team, he supports statewide programs in Family and Consumer Sciences, Integrated Health Disparities, and Community and Economic Development.

Herbert’s skill set spans social media management, AP‑style writing and editing, graphic design, project management, website content strategy, and video production. He develops targeted marketing plans, manages digital communication channels, and produces high‑quality multimedia materials that strengthen program visibility and engagement. His work includes coordinating with faculty, physicians, and educators to enhance consumer outreach through conferences, webinars, and digital campaigns. He also provides communications and marketing training to Extension units across Illinois.

Before joining Illinois Extension, Herbert spent more than a decade as a marketing manager for a major television network in his home country. There, he produced high‑performing broadcast content, led creative teams, and developed advertising strategies that boosted ratings and delivered measurable value for both the network and its advertisers.

Fluent in English and Spanish, Herbert brings a strong foundation in leadership, brand development, data‑driven strategy, and cross‑cultural communication. His career reflects a commitment to elevating organizational impact through compelling storytelling, innovative marketing, and collaborative team leadership.
