Understand what that wintery mix is

Winter brings snow, sleet, freezing rain, and the dreaded polar vortex. Extension educator Duane Friend will discuss the causes and differences between snow, sleet, and freezing rain, as well as other winter phenomenon, including Alberta Clippers, Pacific air, and the polar vortex. We'll review trends in winter weather for the last 50 years and what we expected for the future, including winter weather preparedness. Planning for Pollinators this Fall | October 14 @ 1 PM

Caring for pollinators doesn't stop in the fall. After taking steps this spring and summer to promote pollinators in your yard and garden, learn what actions you can take this fall to continue supporting pollinating insects. Join Extension educator Erin Garrett to learn about pollinator friendly garden cleanup, fall planting of bareroot plants, and winter planting of native seeds. We’ll also cover what fall-blooming plants to add to your garden to provide food and habitat for pollinators after the spring and summer seasons.

Keeping Feral Swine Out of Illinois | November 11 @ 1 PM 

Feral swine, also known as Eurasian boar or feral hogs, are not native to North America. Peggy Doty, on behalf of the USDA Wildlife Service, will discuss why we do not want these invasive animals to become established in Illinois. Learn why feral swine are threats to our ecosystem and what to do if these animals show up on your property.
