Join University of Illinois Extension Master Naturalists at the ParkLands Foundation's Lexington Preserve in Lexington, IL to learn about everything from beavers to butterflies, dragonflies to damselflies, rattlesnake master to reptiles, and beyond!
Several activity tables will be set up along the trail, where you will learn about topics including:
- Safety in Nature
- Using the iNaturalist App
- Dragonfly & Damselfly Identification
- Native Plants
- Praying Mantises
- Tree Identification
- Beavers
The entire activity trail is approximately 1 mile. There is a point to turn around about halfway through.
As a part of ParkLands' Nature Quest Challenge, we will also take photos of as much wildlife as possible and submit those photos to the iNaturalist app. All participants ages 13+ are eligible to submit photos to iNaturalist. The person who submits the most observations of different insect species will win a prize basket donated by the University of Illinois Extension Illinois Grand Prairie Master Naturalists!
