Elisha Hughes serves as the Leadership and Community Engagement Associate with University of Illinois Extension. She joined Extension in 2011 as a 4-H Program Coordinator where she focused on workforce development in tech careers, and intercultural experiences. From 2017-2022, she co-led the 4-H international exchange program with Japan and South Korea. In this role she developed many partnerships with 4-H staff around the world to bring new experiences for Illinois youth.
Since 2022, Elisha has served in more than one professional development role, where she focuses on helping people develop the skills and competencies they need to be successful and reach their career goals. With a Bachelors in Psychology and a Master of Business Administration, she brings strong skills in leadership development, program planning, and building partnerships.
In her current role, Elisha facilitates the Administrative Leadership Academy to strengthen the leadership capacity of staff interested in pursuing County Director positions. She supports current County Directors in their ongoing leadership development, special community engagement projects, and resource development. She also has a role in creating leadership development opportunities for Extension staff in the field.
Elisha believes strong leadership and real community connection are key to Extension’s success. She is committed to helping staff grow, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring Extension continues to make a positive impact across Illinois.
