Dixon Springs research takes center stage at upcoming forums

DIXON SPRINGS, Ill. – Research drives change for the agricultural industry. Current research projects from Dixon Springs Agricultural Center will be showcased monthly. 

The first educational forum begins at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 5 and return the first Thursday of each month following.

Angie Messmer, Dixon Springs director and Extension county director, will provide a brief overview of the center and program updates. Additional presentations include 

  • Applied fruit and vegetable high tunnel production research by Bronwyn Aly, local food systems and small farms educator.
  • Forest management practices, invasive species and forest health by Chris Evans, Extension forestry and research specialist.
  • Beef cattle nutrition, reproduction, grazing strategies, and genetics research by Lucas Trindade Neira, animal science research specialist.
  • Ruminant reproduction physiology, disease prevention, and practical farm application research by Teresa Steckler, Extension commercial agriculture specialist.
