Illinois Department of Agriculture announces new staff members

The Illinois Department of Agriculture is pleased to announce some new faces to the Bureau of Environmental Programs.

We are excited to have them on board and hope that you have the opportunity to meet them at one of the various clinic locations this winter.

Nathan Pfaff

He is the Plant and Pesticide Specialist for Alexander, Franklin, Hardin, Jackson, Jefferson, Johnson, Massac, Perry, Pope, Pulaski, Saline, Union, and Williamson counties. He previously worked in a local Ag Retail Cooperative for 10 years. He currently resides in Pulaski County and has a small beef cow-calf operation of his own and assists with his family’s row crop operation.

Andrew Gorsuch

He is the Plant and Pesticide Specialist covering Knox, Warren, Henderson, Hancock, Mercer, Rock Island, Henry, Bureau, Stark and Peoria Counties.  He is from Astoria, IL where he lives with his family.  They enjoy fishing, hunting and camping. He was in the Ag Chemical Retail industry for 28 years. He also worked for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources – Fisheries for 5 years before coming to the Illinois Department of Agriculture.

Andrew Mathis

He is the Plant and Pesticide Specialist for Champaign, Clark, Coles, Crawford, Cumberland, Douglas, Edgar, Effingham, Fayette, Jasper, Moultrie, Piatt, Shelby, and Vermillion counties.  He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Eastern Illinois University.  He resides in east central Illinois and in his free time he enjoys travelling and volunteering in his community.

Daphne Edge

She is an Agricultural Executive who grew up in Ashland, in central Illinois.  She attended Lincoln Land Community College where she received her A.S. degree in Agriculture then transferred to University of Illinois at Champaign where she earned her B.S. majoring in Crop Science, minoring in Soils.  Her career began in Ag retail where it continued for 26 yrs.  She has been a Certified Crop Advisor for over 20 years and recently earned her CPAg credentials.  With the department, she will be busy implementing policies related to various pesticide and nursery programs in downstate Illinois and the agri-chemical and lawncare containment program on statewide basis.
