Learn how to help someone experiencing mental health or substance use issues.

This one-day online event is designed to empower participants with the knowledge and skills needed to provide crucial support to individuals facing mental health or substance use challenges within the agriculture community. This event will be held on June 11 and 25, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Participants can choose the date that suits them best. 

Throughout the event, attendees will:

  • Learn to recognize the signs of mental health problems commonly experienced in agricultural settings.
  • Gain insight into effective communication techniques for engaging with individuals in distress.
  • Access valuable resources and guidance on connecting with professional help when needed.

The program is tailored for ag producers, agribusiness personnel, stakeholders, and anyone passionate about fostering mental health awareness and support within the agriculture sector. It is presented by Illinois Extension in partnership with the Farm Family Resource Initiative and the SIU Medicine Center for Rural Health & Social Service Development

Pre-work Requirement:
